J36 Update Plus

Well I mad my own pickups and it had it's first run today. It works ok but it will be better with a descent decoder in. Watch this space!

I am quite pleased so far...
 There is a layout somewhere...

Now how do you think they got there?

 A bit of weathering...

The driver is ex RAF and had to have his legs spread to fit in the tractor seat, Quite painful...
I will be able to get to it one day???

Gem J36 Update

Well after much dressing and cleaning parts and checking if they fit...I am getting somewhere, I have had the trusty milliput out filling mainly the boiler top seam but quit a few minor areas. The tender had some real blemishes on one side panel I will have to wait until tomorrow to see if it needs more work. I shunted the chassis with the body on (using another loco to shunt it) around my layout to check for shorts. None to report...

There is a bench under there...Somewhere!
 Man balancing on sprue!
Work in progress..Building up...

Gem J36

My friend John gave me a Gem 36 kit that has been in a cupboard  for over 30 years, So last night I made a start after I found a old Hornby J83 chassis and thought I would see what could be done with it...

J83 chassis...Not much left of it though.
Rolling chassis seems to be free I will have to make some fresh pickups, Plus I have bought some Alan Gibson 4ft tender wheels so I can put in tender pickups...
